David Tennant and Catherine Tate’s sell out production of Much Ado About Nothing was recorded this week for release by Digital Theatre.

There were small static high definition cameras on either side of the stage for most performances of this week so it will be intereting to see how they edit it as David missed the performances on Monday and Tuesday due to having lost his voice. The production also uses three different actors for the character Boy.

Digital Theatre describe their productions as “working in partnership with Britain`s leading theatre companies, including the Almeida Theatre, English Touring Theatre, the Royal Court, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Young Vic, to capture live performance authentically onscreen. We use multiple camera angles and high-definition technology to bring you closer to the drama and emotion of each production. With these methods we are creating a library of diverse and acclaimed productions from some of the finest theatre talent around. Although featuring a range of productions, ensuring there`s something to suit everyone, the plays all share the highest standards of performance and production.”

Productions are offered in Standard Definition, Streaming Video On Demand and High Definition and typically sell for about £8.99.
