This whole 105.7 Hot in Here bit reminds me of when Wild 98.7 launched in the summer of, what, 97? They played Wild Thing non stop for a week and the premise was that two kids, Josh and Brian (call us up on the cellie!) had stolen a boat and were broadcasting a pirate signal. They slowly incorporated more music into the mix (as they got it ‘on the boat’), and for most (all?) of that first summer they were the only two DJs. Commitment to a bit led to a cultural touchstone for anyone in their teens (or close to it) that summer.
Another monkey is on the loose in Florida. Now, neighbors and officials near Tampa are looking for what appears to be rhesus macaque with a taste for mischief, myfoxtampabay.com is reporting.
The animal was spotted in the Mirabay community of Apollo Beach amid reports of unusual car break-ins in which items were tossed about inside vehicles but nothing was taken, the website said.
Here we go again.
Just because I don’t do Gasparilla doesn’t mean I haven’t been drinking since 9am.
Any of you kids going to Beer Fest tomorrow night?
I’ll be working the door starting around 9, come say hi!
Any of you other nerds going to BarCamp Tampa this year?
The Tampa Bay craft beer boom moves into an expansive new phase in coming months with the opening of at least seven breweries — four in downtown St. Petersburg alone, including a major new project by the co-owner of Bella Brava. The next six months or so will further solidify Tampa Bay, already home to 16 breweries, as the craft beer center of Florida.

A University of Florida freshman named Christian Aguilar has sadly gone missing. Here’s an article about him and here’s an indiegogo page collecting money to help his family out while they search. I don’t know Christian except that he was a CH fan who we made a happy birthday video for a few years ago. The same friend who asked for the video emailed to tell me about this and ask for help spreading the word. Take a second to read the article and check out his picture.
Putting out the call to my fellow Floridians - keep an eye out for this kid and spread the word.
